STRATEGY // AUGUST 2026

Why Strategy Slides Don't Help on a Tuesday Afternoon

A strategy nobody can use on a normal working day does not help much.

It looks impressive at the annual leadership retreat. Everyone agrees on the three-year vision, buys new notebooks and leaves energised. Then Monday morning arrives.

Inboxes fill up, client emergencies land, deliveries slip, and the strategy presentation is filed in a folder called "Final_Strategy_v3.pdf".

A working strategy uses the same logic at every level of the company.

The board sets the direction. The department head turns it into quarterly trade-offs. And on a Tuesday afternoon the team lead uses it to decide what not to do today, without having to call the owner.

If your team can't use the strategy to settle unexpected trade-offs when you are not in the room, what you have is a wish list, not a strategy.
